About Me

I’m Katie, founder of Katie Moore Studio.

I’ve always been drawn to making, from drawing and painting to textiles and collecting small moments on paper. As a child, I spent long summer days creating illustrated journals, capturing the details of places explored and time outdoors. That instinct to observe and translate has stayed with me.

I went on to study Art and Graphic Design at school, later completing A levels in Graphic Design at Exeter College, alongside further study in Fashion and Textiles. I spent a year travelling with my partner, immersed in new cultures and landscapes, an experience that deepened my connection to nature and continues to shape my work. We then moved to Sydney, Australia, it was during my time here that I decided to end my career in IT that I had fallen in to and immersed myself back into my creative practices. I retained in Surface Pattern Design, and dived in to hands-on practices, from natural dyeing to life drawing and slow stitching. I interned for Lorna Murray, supporting her studio and collaborating on creative projects, and gained further experience alongside artist Bethany Linz.

In 2016, my husband and I returned to the UK to be closer to family, and are now based in beautiful Devon. I continue to develop my creative practice alongside my role in NHS administration and raising my family.

Nature has always been a constant, a place of calm and reconnection, especially through motherhood. My work reflects this quiet relationship, a way of noticing, holding, and sharing small moments of beauty through watercolour.
